In 1995, while living in Atlanta and working at Emory University,
Stoney enrolled in a community watercolor class, her first rendezvous
with the art world . . . . . it was the single event that began a new
chapter in her life. When she moved to Covington, Kentucky in 1997, she brought
her passion for painting with her. Fascinated by the historic architecture, she has
painted many buildings of Covington. Her first love, however, is flowers and
whether painting them or planting them in her garden, she agrees with
Emma Goldman "I'd rather have roses on my table than
diamonds on my neck".
